The Greenhouse Center for Environmental Humanities at University of Stavanger, Norway, is now accepting proposals from scholars interested in applying for the EU Horizon Europe Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships program (MSCA-PF) in 2026. The MSCA-PF scheme is highly prestigious and provides a unique possibility for talented early career researchers to develop their careers through international mobility. The MSCA fellowship is granted for a period of up to 2 years (or 3 years if a global exchange is included) and is carried out under the supervision of an experienced researcher at the host institution.
Researchers of any nationality, who wish to engage in R&I projects by either coming to Europe from any country in the world or moving within Europe, can apply. They:
- must have a PhD degree successfully defended by 9 Sep 2026;
- must have a maximum of 8 years full-time equivalent experience in research, measured from the date that the researcher was in a possession of a doctoral degree. Years of experience outside research and career breaks (e.g., due to parental leave) do not count toward the 8 years;
- must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Norway for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before 9 Sep 2026.
At the Greenhouse, we are interested in hosting MSCA fellows with environmental humanities projects who would benefit from being in an interdisciplinary dynamic environmental humanities environment and working closely with one or more members of Greenhouse.
The Greenhouse has hosted seven MSCA-funded postdoctoral fellows since 2019. At the Greenhouse our postdocs are included in a vibrant and international research community with weekly group meetings, frequent guest talks, good support structures, and a world-class environmental humanities research library. The Greenhouse offers a year-long professional development program for our fellows.
We will work with select candidates to develop their applications for submission to the EU in September 2026. Through the University of Stavanger’s Research Development Department, The Greenhouse can arrange for potential applicants to participate in the UiS MSCA-PF Support Programme, including a MSCA-PF workshop. The workshop is delivered by the external consultants and covers topics such as project development, proposal writing, proposal evaluation and the call requirements. The workshop will be conducted digitally.
In order to take advantage of this training opportunity, we must receive an initial statement of interest no later than 28 February 2026. Send an email to the Greenhouse directors Finn Arne Jørgensen and Dolly Jørgensen at greenhouse@uis.no with a CV (max 2 pages) and project statement (max 2 pages). The project statement should address the aim of your project, what is new/novel about it, and what skills you plan to acquire during the postdoc period. You should make it clear how your project aligns with The Greenhouse’s interests and expertise.
