The UiS School of Business and Law is seeking motivated and academically strong students who would like to combine their studies with meaningful part-time work during the Fall 2026 semester. The application deadline is 26 May 2026.
As a teaching assistant, you will play an important role in supporting fellow students and contributing to a positive learning environment. Teaching assistants provide valuable peer-to-peer support and often help explain course material from a student perspective that complements traditional teaching.
Typical responsibilities may include:
- Leading seminars, workshops, or group sessions
- Holding office hours and answering student questions
- Assisting with practical exercises and coursework
- Providing feedback on assignments
- Supporting attendance registration and course administration
All tasks are carried out in collaboration with and under the supervision of the course instructor. Responsibilities and workload may vary between courses and will be agreed upon individually.

Student Assistants for ØkadLounge
We are also recruiting student assistants for ØkadLounge — an academic and social meeting place for first- and second-year bachelor students in Business Administration and students in the one-year programme in Economics and Management.
At ØkadLounge, students can work on coursework, receive academic support from fellow students, and connect socially with classmates. Waffles and hot drinks are served, and student assistants help create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
As a student assistant in ØkadLounge, you will welcome and support students, contribute to creating a positive and inclusive atmosphere, and assist students with academic questions whenever possible.
Students with prior experience as teaching assistants are often given preference in recruitment processes, as they have demonstrated both relevant experience and strong engagement during their studies.
Working Hours
Working hours vary depending on the course and needs of the instructor. Positions may range from short-term assignments over a few weeks to up to 10 hours per week throughout the semester.
Working hours include both preparation time and direct interaction with students. Final schedules are agreed upon between the teaching assistant and the course instructor and approved by the programme administration. Full-time students are normally not expected to work more than 10 hours per week.
Salary
Teaching assistants are paid hourly according to current Norwegian government salary regulations.
- Bachelor’s students: NOK 206 per hour
- Master’s students: NOK 210 per hour
Qualifications
Applicants should normally have achieved at least a grade B in the course they are applying to assist in. If you have not completed the course at UiS, the course instructor will assess your qualifications individually.
Applicants with relevant education from another institution must submit transcripts documenting grades in relevant subjects to Cecilie E. Lund (cecilie.e.lund@uis.no). Please clearly specify which course(s) the documentation relates to. Applications without the required documentation will not be considered.
To work as a teaching assistant in master’s-level courses, you must be enrolled as a second-year master’s student.
Certificate of Employment
All teaching assistants will receive a certificate of employment upon completion of their position.
