d. Ensuring their laptop is updated and tested prior to the exam.
3. Attendance
3.1 The student must arrive at the assigned exam room 30 minutes before the start.
3.2 Students arriving at the wrong location must immediately move to the correct
exam room.
3.3 Students arriving late but within 30 minutes may still take the exam (without
extra time).
3.4 Students arriving more than 30 minutes after the start shall be denied access.
3.5 Students not listed on the candidate list must contact the exam supervisor for
approval. The Examination Office must approve any admission to the exam, and all
prerequisites for admission must be fulfilled
3.6 The student must display valid physical ID on the desk throughout the exam.
Digital identification via mobile app is not accepted.
3.7 Students without valid ID may be denied access.
4. Equipment and Aids
4.1 All equipment must be approved and free from Bluetooth or similar technology.
External devices such as mouse, keyboard, or monitor are not permitted unless
granted as accommodation. Electronic earplugs are not permitted.
4.2 Headwear is not allowed except religious headwear.
4.3 Only writing tools, food, drinks, and approved aids may be placed on the desk.
4.4 Approved aids may contain underlining/highlighting but no loose sheets or
notes. The use of legal compendiums must follow UiS guidelines.
4.5 For digital exams, students must use their own laptop - no extra time for login issues
4.6 Aids may be checked by exam supervisors; unauthorized aids will be confiscated and reported. If special permission is granted to use a PC during a written paperbased exam, the exam supervisors may check that only the necessary software is available on the hard drive or USB drive.
4.7 Unauthorized aids shall be confiscated, and the incident shall be reported as a
suspected case of cheating.
4.8 UiS is not responsible for damage on the equipment or data loss during the
examination.
5. Conducting the Examination
5.1 Exam Time and Information:
5.1.2. The chief supervisor will provide practical information at the start.
Information that is of relevance to all students shall be communicated to all
students.
5.1.3. Exam duration is stated in Studentweb and includes breaks.
5.1.4 Students will be notified when one hour and 15 minutes remain.
5.1.5. For carbon-copy sheets, 15 extra minutes are granted for preparation and
submission.
5.1.6. Writing must stop when time is up — further writing disqualifies submission.
5.2 Practical Procedures:
5.2.1. Questions should be directed to the exam supervisor, who will contact the
course instructor if necessary
5.2.2. Students may not leave the room until 30 minutes after start. Leaving the
seat requires supervision by an exam supervisor.
5.2.3. For carbon-copy sheets, use blue or black ballpoint pen — do not stack sheets.
It is important that stacks of carbon-copy sheets are not placed on top of each other
while writing, as this may cause the writing to transfer onto the sheets underneath.
5.2.4. In closed digital exam systems, answers save automatically; otherwise, students must save their own work.
5.3 Withdrawal and Submission:
5.3.1. Withdrawal is allowed no earlier than 30 minutes after start. Digital exams
require using the digital withdrawal function. Paper exams must be marked with “I
withdraw from the exam in "…".
5.3.2. Upon submission, the student must notify the exam supervisor. Submission is
final and answers cannot be returned.
5.3.3. Original and first copy must be submitted for carbon-copy sheets.
5.3.4 Draft sheets may not be graded
6. Conduct and Behavior
6.1 All communication must go via exam supervisors. Any other communication
during the exam is not permitted.
6.2 Time outside the exam room is limited to toilet breaks or short breaks. Students
are not allowed to visit the cafeteria, bookstore, or similar facilities during the exam.
6.3Disruptive behavior may result in expulsion (Universities and Colleges Act § 12-
5).
6.4 Suspected cheating must be reported immediately and followed up afterward.
The student in question shall be allowed to complete the exam. The case shall be
followed up afterwards in accordance with the university's procedures for
suspected cheating.
6.5 Evacuation may result in cancellation of the exam.
7. Absence and Illness
7.1 Valid absence must be applied for within five working days via the Digital
Student Service.
7.2 If the student becomes ill during the exam, they may withdraw or submit. If
submitted for grading, valid absence cannot be granted afterward, and one exam attempt will be registered.
