Content

Through this course, students will gain fundamental insights in building physical topics as: weathering and local climate, indoor environment, heat engineering building design and calculation of energy, moisture mechanics, sound, lighting and basic fire theory. Students will acquire a broad understanding of the technical challenges and solution principles for building ordinary houses (for example for houses, cottages, kindergartens or similar)

Learning outcome

Students will be able to make building physical calculations of energy, condensation risk, sound etc.and provide professional building application drawings.

The students will acquire basic knowledge of current technical regulations (TEK17) and NS 3031 "Calculations of energy performance of buildings".

The overall evaluation of the course consist of project based group work as well as an individual exam. The project is a compendium of several hand in.To be eligible for evaluation and grading, all parts of the projects will need to be included, and the work will then be graded as a whole.The written exam is graded separately, and scaled accordingly.Those who fail the project based work needs to retake it the next time the course is taught. However, if they passed the exam the first time around, they should be able to use it for their final evaluation once they pass the project. § 5-3 (2).

Course assessment
