Content

The course will consist of two parts. The first part will strengthen different branches of chemistry which is not covered in KJE101: advanced general chemistry, analytical chemistry and physical chemistry. The second party will provide an introduction to electrochemistry: theory, methods, and applications. The course will lay the basis for the students to study the specialization courses in battery technology.

Learning outcome

Upon course completion, you:

  • will strengthen your knowledge in physical chemistry as the foundation for electrochemistry
  • can identify, define, and classify electrochemical reactions and the components involved - electrolyte, electrodes, and interfaces.
  • have a fundamental understanding of definitions, driving forces, mechanisms, and kinetics of electrochemical reactions.
  • know the structure and properties of electrode-electrolyte interfaces.
  • have knowledge of electroanalytical methods and their use.
  • have knowledge of applications of electrochemistry in areas such as synthesis, materials, environment and energy

Course assessment

There must be an early dialogue between the course coordinator, the student representative and the students. The purpose is feedback from the students for changes and adjustments in the course for the current semester. In addition, a digital course evaluation must be carried out at least every three years. Its purpose is to gather the students experiences with the course.
