Introduction

The student works in a company or in a larger project at the university to acquire experience-based knowledge within Chemistry & Environment.

Content

In this course, learning takes place in a professional environment outside the university, for example in a company. The student must find a workplace or project that is interested in accepting a student in the company's ongoing work. Internships in a student project must be agreed with the department's academic responsible for the relevant student project.

The purpose of the course is to give the student practical experience and the opportunity to delve into selected issues related to the company's practice. It is assumed that, in collaboration between the intermediate student, workplace and subject teacher, an agreement / contract and plan is prepared for how the internship work is to be carried out in practice and how the supervision of the student is to take place. The evaluation will take place on the basis of a critically reflective report from the student as well as a presentation. The report shall contain a discussion of a more specific issue related to the company's practice, a reflection of its own contribution to the workplace's business, as well as documentation of work performed and certified timesheets.

Required prerequisite knowledge

  • General Chemistry (KJE150)
70 ECTS must be passed in the approved educational plan.

Recommended prerequisites

Knowledge related to the practical requirements of the relevant workplace.

Coursework requirements

The student will give a compulsory oral presentation that must be approved prior to submission of report.

Method of work

Practical and / or theoretical work in external activities with guidance according to an agreement / contract.

Places are limited. Admission subject to application to study adviser.

Note: this course starts-up early in the spring semester. The registration deadline is therefore December 1st.

Course assessment

There must be an early dialogue between the course supervisor, the student union representative and the students. The purpose is feedback from the students for changes and adjustments in the course for the current semester.In addition, a digital subject evaluation must be carried out at least every three years. Its purpose is to gather the students experiences with the course.
