Content

Basic intermolecular forces. Surface forces in colloid systems. Rheological behaviour of concentrated suspension.

Learning outcome

To give the student a thorough knowledge of colloid systems and the surface forces that influence the physical behaviour of such systems. The student should thus be able to solve a relevant petroleum related problem through studies of surface forces of particles in concentrated suspension.

Coursework requirements

Mandatory project assignment

The project assignment a compulsory teaching activity to be approved.

The applicant must submit the report to the course responsible and the examiner takes place 2 weeks after.

The candidate must present his/her work for 40 minutes and then 15 mins of Q&A.

Method of work

Guided self-tuition, colloquia, presentations.

The student should write a report, with references to the literature, covering some of the scientific themes.
