Erasmus+ blended short-term mobility for students

As a student at UiS, you can go on blended short-term mobility and receive a grant through Erasmus+. Here is more information about short-term mobilities and how to apply for the grant.

Published Updated on

Students at UiS can receive financial support to go on blended short-term mobility to a university with which UiS has signed an Erasmus+ agreement, or to an organisation/company. Are you a PhD student? Please see more information on mobility opportunities and the online application form on the intranet.

It is possible to go on short-term mobility from your first year of study. Please note that only students admitted to bachelor's or master's programs at UiS can apply. Unfortunately, students in one-year programs cannot receive Erasmus+ grants.

Structure: Blended short-term mobility consists of both a physical and a virtual component.

Duration of stay: The physical part of the stay must be between 5-30 days.

Credits: The combined physical and virtual parts of the stay must be a minimum of 3 ECTS. 3 ECTS equals around 80-90 hours of work.

Grant: You can receive a grant for the physical part of the stay and any travel days (up to 2). The grant is paid after the stay and requires that all documentation is submitted by the given deadline.

You must apply for the grant at least 2 weeks before the start of the physical part of your mobility. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

If your application is approved, you will receive a grant agreement from the International Office to be filled in and signed digitally. The agreement will be sent to the email address you provide in the application form.

Please note that a valid health insurance is a requirement to receive the Erasmus+ grant, and that the insurance number must be provided in the scholarship agreement.

To receive the scholarship, you must submit the following documents:

Grant agreement

You must fill in your personal information, bank information for payment, duration of the stay and any travel days, as well as insurance information. A valid health insurance is a requirement to receive the Erasmus+ grant, and the insurance number must be provided in the grant agreement.

Learning agreement

Short-term mobility at a host university

You must create a learning agreement that shows the academic content of your activity. This agreement must first be signed by you, then by the student advisor for your study program at UiS, and finally by the host institution. Please remember to notify your student advisor after you have signed so that they can check the agreement and sign.

The learning agreement is not complete until all three parties have signed. It is your responsibility to monitor the status of the agreement and ensure that it is signed by everyone.

We recommend creating an online version of the learning agreement: Online Learning Agreement (OLA). To log in, you must use either EduGain/Feide or Google. Please note that you must register the first time you log in.

You can see how to fill out the agreement in our visual guide (PDF).

Be careful when filling out the agreement, as there are limited opportunities to make changes after it is signed.

Short-term mobility at an organisation/company

If you are participating in short-term mobility at an organisation or company instead of a university, you cannot use the Online Learning Agreement. Therefore, you must fill out the Word template for the learning agreement and submit a signed PDF version: Erasmus+ Learning Agreement (Word).

Please note that you only need to fill out the parts of the document mentioned below.

General Information:
Please fill in your personal information.
Under Field of education, you can look up your field of study in the database and choose the 4-digit code. The database is somewhat limited, so you may need to choose something more general/what fits best.
Under Study cycle, please write "bachelor" or "master".

Mobility type and duration
Please tick the box for Blended mobility with short-term physical mobility.
Please fill in the start and end dates for the physical part of the stay.

Study Programme at Receiving Institution and recognition at the Sending Institution: Mobility type: Blended mobility with short-term physical mobility
Please fill in information about the physical and virtual parts of your stay.
Please fill in the number of study credits (ECTS) you will receive for the stay.

Commitment of the three parties: Any Mobility type
Please sign the document yourself and send a PDF version to your student advisor for signing via email. Once you have their signature, you must send the document to the host organisation for the final signature to complete the learning agreement.

Confirmation of Erasmus+ Exchange Period

The host institution must fill out and sign a document confirming your participation and the start and end date of your stay. You must have this document signed by your contact person at the host institution when your exchange period is nearing its end.

Download: Confirmation of Erasmus+ Exchange Period (PDF)

You must send the signed document to the International Office by email: outboundexchange@uis.no.

Participant Survey

All Erasmus+ students must submit a final participant survey after their mobility. You will receive an automatic email with a link to the survey towards the end of your stay. You must fill out and submit this survey digitally.

We recommend checking your email spam folder regularly after your stay.

The deadline for submitting the documents is 1 month after the last day of the physical part of your mobility.

Example: If your stay ends on 1 November, the deadline for submission will be 1 December.

The grant is paid after the mobility is over and only after all documents have been submitted. If any of the above documents are missing or incomplete after the deadline has passed, you will not receive the Erasmus+ grant for the blended short-term mobility.

Grant rates

  • 70 EUR per day for the first 5-14 days
  • 50 EUR per day for the following 15-30 days

It is also possible to receive a grant for up to 2 travel days.

Example: If you participate in physical mobility for 5 days and have 2 travel days, you will receive a grant for 7 days. If you travel down the day before physical mobility (5 days) and back the same day as the last day of physical mobility, you will receive a grant for 6 days.

Please note that UiS students until spring 2024 will receive the above grant rates from the 2022 project round, and the exchange rate is fixed at 1 EUR = 9.8 NOK.

Additional scholarship

Students with fewer opportunities can receive an additional grant (one-time payment) of 100 EUR for short-term mobility stays of up to 14 days. For stays over 14 days, the amount is 150 EUR. This applies to the following:

  1. Students with children under 18 years old
  2. Students with chronic illnesses
  3. Students with refugee status

You must check that you want the "top-up for students with fewer opportunities" in the grant agreement to be assigned the additional grant. You will then be asked to document that you meet one of the three criteria, for example, by providing a doctor's certificate.

Payment of scholarship

The grant is paid after the stay is over and only after all documents have been submitted. If any of the above documents are missing or incomplete after the deadline has passed, you will not receive the Erasmus+ grant for blended short-term mobility.

A complete learning agreement means that your short-term stay is approved as higher education.

You must apply for any credit transfer after your stay is completed. You do this through the Student Service Centre.

It is possible to apply for support for sustainable transportation (green travel). This grant is a one-time payment of 50 EUR. It is a requirement that over 50% of the journey is made using environmentally friendly means of transport (bus, train, and/or carpooling).

To receive the scholarship, you must:

  1. Check "green travel top-up" in the scholarship agreement
  2. Download and fill out the Declaration of Honour for green travel (PDF) within 1 month after the physical stay. Please send this form to the International Office by email: outboundexchange@uis.no
