Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas is modern innovative university, located in Moscow, and is one of the flagships of the higher technical education in Russia. In 2010 the university received the status of «National Research University» (NRU).

Gubkin University was founded in 1930, and is well known for its good and close cooperation with the industry, in particular major Russian and international oil and gas companies.

Double degree
University of Stavanger and Gubkin University offers a Double degree program in Offshore Field Development. UiS students enrolled at the Master program in Marine Science at UiS can choose the Double degree program with Gubkin as a study option. The Master program is fully thought in English.

The 2nd semester (Spring) includes exchange to Gubkin University.

Language of instruction

Russian and English (the Master program in Offshore Field Development is offered in English).

Language requirements

Students wishing to travel o to this university should have a minimum B2 (read: higher intermediate level) in English according to the Council of Europe's level scale for languages. B2 equals 4 in English from high school.

Tuition fee

No tuition fee for exchange students or students at University of Stavanger enrolled in the Master program in Offshore.

Scholarship

None.
Study loans and grants for eligible students from Lånekassen.

Academic year

Semester 1: Beginning of September - end of January.
Semester 2: Beginning of February - end of June.

How to find subjects

Students enrolled at the Offshore Field Development program should take the respective courses.

Accommodation

Gubkin urban campus consists of five comfortable residential houses (students’ dormitories). Two 16-floor buildings are located in Volgina Street and three 15 floor buildings are in Butlerova Street. The campus is just in 3 metro station from Gubkin University.

The campus accommodation offers social activities such as: art and craft groups, an art studio, and a disco dance school. Sport facilities include an indoor sports complex, There is a cafeteria and food shop at the student accommodation. Rooms have access to Wi-Fi.

It is also possible to rent private accommodation in Moscow.

Visa

You must have a visa to study in Russia. Once you have received a letter of admission from the university, you should apply for a visa at the Russian Embassy.
