Information about the university

Lingnan University is a Liberal Arts University located in Hong Kong. The university offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programs in 3 faculties (Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Business and Faculty of Social Sciences) and at the Division of Graduate studies and in the Global Liberal Arts Program. It is a relatively small university with a total of 3100 students, and approximately 350 international students.

University of Stavanger and LU have an exchange agreement that is open for all study programs within the relevant available courses.

English.

Language requirements

English language proficiency equivalent to “4” on transcript of records from high school (VGS)
Students who do not meet the requirements for English proficiency must as an alternative take either an IELTS or TOEFL test.

  • TOEFL: score of 213 (computer-based), 550 (paper-based) or 79 (internet-based)
  • IELTS Academic Module: score of 6.0.

GPA requirements

2.5 GPA or minimum average grade C on the Norwegian scale.

Total number of exchange places

5 students per year.

Students at the Department of Safety, Economics and Planning, and at the Department of Media and Social Sciences will be given priority.

Tuition fee

Students going on exchange from UiS to Lingnan University are exempted from tuitions fees.

Scholarship

None. Study loans and grants for eligible students from Lånekassen.

Autumn: Mid August – Late December.
Spring: January – Late May.

Courses in English

From 100-499 = BA courses / From 500 and above = MA courses

Credits abroad

15 credits = 30 studiepoeng at Bachelor level.
12 credits = 30 studiepoeng at Master level.

Accommodation

All exchange students are required to live on-campus and share room with a non-exchange student during the entire period of study at Lingnan. Rooms are randomly assigned. See here for more information.

Visa

Before coming to Hong Kong, you must obtain a student visa from the Immigration Department of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Students are responsible for obtaining visa and other necessary documents prior to their stay. Students apply for visa through Lingnan University.
