The developed course materials underpin the importance of reflexive practice as they enable early years’ practitioners, teachers and students to reflect on the information and ‘good practices’ provided by 8 European countries to explore the concepts of wellbeing, multilingualism and parental engagement; making links between their own knowledge and practice together with relevant theory and legislation.
The course materials are structured in different course modules, reflecting the most important themes of the project: toddlers in European context, supporting wellbeing, language development in multicultural settings, enhancing parental engagement and the early year practitioner (EYP) as a reflective practitioner. For each of these course modules ‘guidelines’ are developed and ‘materials’ give the necessary theoretical support and ‘real-life’ examples.
These course modules have a flexible structure so that all trainers can get inspired by the materials or are in the possibility to ‘copy and paste’ those parts that are applicable. At the same time, the entirety of the course modules provides materials and activities to organize a course of 5 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System).
Following general goals have been described for the entirety of the course modules:
- Compare and contrast the diversity of childcare settings in 8 European countries;
- Be able to identify, analyse and justify examples of good practices to reduce the inequalities in toddler’s education;
- Developing competences in being a reflective practitioner.
