University College South Denmark is a centre for higher education in the southern part of Jutland with apr. 6500 students and 700 members of staff. It was established January 1st 2010 as a merger of two former smaller UC’s: West and South. 13 Bachelor studies are provided, among the social education/pre-primary. All programmes consist of theoretical studies and periods of practice.
Most of the studies are equally offered as blended learning, e.g. a mix of distance learning and seminars. UC South Denmark provides post-graduate diploma studies and inservice courses and has a centre for teaching resources. UC South Denmark acts as a regional centre for education. They have knowledge and innovation within the professional field and provide consultative service to pre-schools, schools, social institutions, as well as to municipalities.
Peak competencies in relation to the project are: E-learning, special needs education, provision for exposed children, curriculum development in preschool.
