The subject’s thematic focal point will be changes and characteristics of the development within the field of professions. In light of societal changes the course aims to investigate and discuss possible implications and challenges for professional work and relations. The focus is on historical and contextual factors which affect professional understanding and practice. Also, ethical issues will be emphasized.
In order to shed light on changes and compare across individual professions, the course will have a broad, research-based approach and include professional-sociological perspectives, philosophical analyses and phenomenological studies of people and relations.

Students admitted to PROFRES or to PhD-programs at PROFRES’ partner institutions will have priority.
The course is taught in Norwegian unless some of the participants do not understand a Scandinavian language. In this case, English will be the teaching language.
