Norwegian Programme for Capacity Development in Higher Education and Research for Development

The NORHED programme was launched in 2012 by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad).

The aim of the NORHED programme is to strengthen capacity of higher education institutions in Low and Middle Income Countries (LMICs), to educate more and better qualified candidates, and to increase quality and quantity of research conducted by the countries’ own researchers.

So far in the programme, two calls for project proposals have been published, the first in 2013 with the launch of the programme for all thematic areas, and the second one in 2016 with a specific thematic focus on Education for Development. Since 2013, UiS has been granted support for two projects, both in the field of mathematics education.

2013: Improving Mathematics Teacher Education in Malawi (QZA 0483 MWI-13/0022).

2016: Strengthening Numeracy in Early Years Primary Education through Professional Development of Teachers (QZA 0483 MWI-16/0020)
