Torsdagsseminar i naturvitenskap

Seniorforsker Maria Doitsidou ved Stavanger Universitetssykehus holder foredrag med tittelen "Making sense of the nervous system: high-tech genetics meet tiny worms".

How is a nervous system made in a developing organism? Why do nerve cells die during aging or in cases of disease and how can we stop this from happening? We are addressing these fundamental biological questions using a combination of high-throughput genetics and an invertebrate model organism called C. elegans. Through a collaborative effort between CORE, the Stavanger University Hospital and St. John’s University in New York we are extending our findings to better understand human disease.
