Academic Writing Session

In this session, we focus on evaluating and citing sources, developing a good research statement and structure. You will also receive advice on how to keep the writing process going and strategies you can use to express your argument in a way that engages the reader.

After attending the session, you should:

  • understand how to structure your thesis
  • be able to develop a good research statement
  • understand how to create correctly formatted in-text citations and reference lists
  • know how to develop strong arguments
  • understand that research/knowledge builds on the work others have done
  • know how to use various strategies to get started with your writing and to keep it flowing
  • be aware of what resources and services the library offers as well as relevant internet resources
