Risikostyring, risikokommunikasjon og policy for risiko (RIS630)

Emnet tar for seg utfordringer og muligheter knyttet til å utvikle effektiv risikostyring i en 24/7 mediakontekst. Emnet dekker sentrale aspekter av risikopersepsjon og risikokommunikasjon. I tillegg dekker emnet viktige implikasjoner for policyutforming knyttet til risiko og presentasjon av denne. Emnet er basert på undervisning av grunnleggende prinsipper for risikopersepsjon og risikokommunikasjon og anvendelse av disse prinsippene, inkludert policyutforming knyttet til risiko.

Emnet utforsker, på et avansert nivå, risikostyring, risikopersepsjon, risikokommunikasjon, og policy relatert til risiko. Fokus er på drivere av risikopersepsjon, inkludert lav versus høy opplevd risiko; determinanter for tillit og implikasjoner for risikokommunikasjon og policy, inkludert situasjoner kjennetegnet ved høy versus lav tillit; rollen til konvensjonelle og sosiale medier, inkludert risikoforsterkning og risikodemping; kommunikasjon av usikkerhet; policy og kommunikasjon i en transparent kontekst.

Emnets innhold er strukturert i tre deler, der den første delen fokuserer på utviklingen av risikokommunikasjonsfeltet, med utgangspunkt i risikopersepsjon. Den andre delen undersøker sentrale teoretiske milepæler mer i dybden, det vil si den narrative tilnærmingen, tillit, dulting, og mentale modeller. Den tredje delen dekker policy relatert til risiko, og forholdet til risikokommunikasjon.

Seminarene gjennomføres vanligvis ved at studentene presenterer nøkkellitteratur (i små grupper), en kort forelesning (noen forhåndsinnspilt) som tar for seg sentrale konsepter, etterfulgt av en gruppediskusjon for å adressere mulige kunnskapshull. Studentene vil gjennomføre analyser av definerte problemer og presentere funnene sine for de andre studentene.

Emner som dekkes er grunnleggende begreper, risikopersepsjon, risikokommunikasjon, og samt analyse av policy relatert til risiko.

Etter fullført emne skal studentene:

Kunnskap

• Forstå dynamikk knyttet til risikopersepsjon og risikokommunikasjon
• Forstå hvordan risiko relatert til ulike sektorer (f.eks. energi, mat, legemidler) effektivt kan håndteres og hvordan vitenskapsinformert policy kan utvikles på en vellykket måte

Ferdigheter

• Ha evnen til å spesialisere seg innen risikopersepsjon/risikokommunikasjon som en av hovedgrenene innen risikofag
• Ha evne til selvstendig å bearbeide vitenskapelig litteratur om forholdet mellom risikostyring og risikopersepsjon/risikokommunikasjon. Det vil bli lagt vekt på å utvikle vitenskapelig informerte vurderinger, samt på evnen til å presentere gjennomførbare policyalternativer som vil bli diskutert med medstudentene

Generell kompetanse

• Studentene skal tilegne seg generell kompetanse i å skrive en akademisk artikkel
• Studentene skal utvikle sin forskningsevne
• Studenten skal styrke sine presentasjonsevner
• Kurset skal fremme gruppearbeidsevner

Risikoanalyse og -styring (RIS500)

Forelesninger og individuelt arbeid og gruppearbeid (om spesifikke problemstillinger, inspirert av problembaserte læringsteknikker). Studentaktiv metodikk og tett dialog mellom studenter og foreleser er sentrale elementer i den pedagogiske arbeidsformen.

Studentene vil også danne lesegrupper og presentere det de har lest for medstudentene.

Søkeren må oppfylle opptakskravet til et av studieprogrammene som emnet er åpent for.

Fakultetet avgjør om det skal gjennomføres tidligdialog i alle emner eller i utvalgte grupper av emner. Formålet er å få tilbakemeldinger fra studentene for forbedringer i semesteret. I tillegg skal det gjennomføres en digital emneevaluering minst hvert tredje år for å innhente studentenes erfaringer.
