Kort om meg
Ingerine Dahl is a violinist, educator, and innovator whose career combines international performance with pioneering work in music education and interdisciplinary creation. She currently serves as Head of Strings and Assistant Professor (Violin) in the Department of Classical Music at the Faculty of Performing Arts, University of Stavanger.
Performance Career
Since 2004, she has held the position of 2.Concertmaster of the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, performing as soloist, chamber musician, and guest leader with ensembles across Norway and internationally. Currently she guest leads internationally in orchestras like RTÈ Dublin, Norrlandsoperan, TSO, OFO, etc. She foundes the string trio “Skasei”, the “Ingerine & Milan Duo”, and the Stavanger Cathedral Ensemble, all of which have brought her to stages across Scandinavia, France, Italy, and South Africa. Dahl performs on the historic “Ole Bull” J.-B. Vuillaume violin*, generously on loan from Dextra Musica / Sparebankstiftelsen.
A champion of new music, Dahl has collaborated with leading composers including amongst othersJan Erik Mikalsen, Rolf Wallin, Maja Rattkje, Dag Egil Njaa, and Marcus Paus. Mikalsen’s Violin Concerto, written for her, was recorded with the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra and conductor Eivind Gullberg-Jensen in 2019 to critical acclaim. Her repertoire spans from early Baroque to contemporary works, incorporating free improvisation and crossover genres. She has a recording contract with LAWO which is also part of her current 3-year artistic scholarship.

Innovation & Interdisciplinary Projects
Dahl’s work as a creative artist is distinguished by her interest in innovation and interdisciplinary performance. She has developed projects such as “Solitude” a theatrical production for solo violin, chamber orchestra, and dancers that received acclaim at the Bergen International Festival, and “Sei Solo/LUCE” and “Lysprinsesså” created in collaboration with the University of the Arts London, which integrates music, light, movement, and audience participation performed at Stavanger Chamber music festival, Nordlysfestivalen og FestivAlta.
These projects exemplify her commitment to reimagining performance practice, expanding the boundaries of classical presentation, and fostering meaningful connections with audiences.
Research & Artistic Development
Ingerine Dahl is actively engaged in artistic research that explores new modes of performance, pedagogy, and audience interaction. Her projects often blend traditional repertoire with improvisation, theatrical elements, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
A key part of her current research is the interactive sensory ion-device; Muzziball, an innovative interactive format designed to make music performance more dynamic, participatory, and inclusive. Combining chamber music with elements of play, physicality, and improvisation, “Muzziball”challenges not only traditional hierarchies between performer and audience, but also the links between arts and health. It has been piloted in educational settings as well as public performances, offering new insights into embodied music-making, collaboration, and audience engagement.
Her research contributes to contemporary debates on how classical musicians can develop versatility, autonomy, and creative ownership, aligning with international movements in artistic research and higher music education. Dahl’s findings have been disseminated through performances, workshops, and projects that foreground embodiment, creativity, and innovation in string playing.
