Wayne Brasel, guitarist from California, USA.

Combines the best of jazz, blues, soul, and rock guitar with a post-bop approach to improvisation.

 The music he composes is an eclectic blend of styles and influences that often defies categorization.

Growing up in northern California, Wayne graduated with a degree from California State University in Northridge having studied both jazz and classical guitar. During that time he also studied privately with Jimmy Wyble, Ted Greene,David Pritchard, Jamie Glaser,  Don Mock, Pat Martino and Charlie Shoemake. Performing as a sideman and with his own group, Wayne has played and recorded alongside many of the world's top musicians, including:, Alex Acuna, Abe Laborial, Vinnie Caliuta, Brian Blade, Daniello Perez, Richard Bona, Shiela Jordan, John Patittucci, Arild Anderson,Hal Crook, Bill Dobbins,Gustavo Bergali,Tore Brunborg, Peter Erksine and  Rick Margitza. Wayne's has recorded six CD’s of his own compositions including his most recent recordings are a trio recording called "The Beatnik Walk" with Peter Erskine and John Patitucci,“Stavanger Songs” with a quintet of top Norwegian musicians , “Tanzanian Skies” with an ensemble made up of Tanzanian and Norwegian musicians and his latest CD “If You Would Dance “ with Peter Erskine, Alan Pasqua and Tom Warrington. Wayne, having taught at the American Institute of Music in Vienna , Austria and as guest professor of Jazz guitar at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, Austria , he  is currently associate professor and heads up the guitar department at the University of Stavanger in Stavanger, Norway.Wayne has taught seminars and workshops all over Europe and the UK and has published his own  book called " From Blues to Modern Jazz Guitar".
