Want to reduce your climate footprint and live rent-free for 6 months at Campus while writing your master thesis in the spring of 2023?
Future Energy Hub and Lyspæren are looking for creative and passionate master students to continue the MyBox Energy Lab project and make the apartments and its inhabitants more sustainable during the spring semester of 2023.
Background
The MyBox buildings were originally built to test various concepts related to renewable energy and energy efficient student housing, and has since seen upgrades such as wind turbines, battery storage and smart home solutions, to reduce both energy consumption as well as the dependency on external energy sources.
We still have a long way to go towards reaching the goal of net zero emissions and sustainable living, which is why we’re asking for your help. UiS offers several studies that provide students with the knowledge and tools to work with renewable energy. For this reason, the project’s selection committee will be prioritizing cross-disciplinary teams with students from various background to create an environment where the students are able to draw on each other’s skills and synergies.
Who are you?
Are you great at organizing communal dinners, think you know what technical solutions will benefit the MyBox apartments or perhaps have a different study background that will help make everyday life more sustainable? We welcome any and all proposals from students on what to experiment with next.
Rent-free living and funds to get going
The students with the best proposal will live rent free in the MyBox apartments for 6 months starting January of 2023. Furthermore, students selected for the challenge will collectively have access to funds of 25.000,- NOK to use on improvements, equipment and other activities that are tied to the project.
Eligibility Criteria:
- You MUST live in the MyBox building during the spring of 2023 (January – June)
- The proposal must be connected to your master thesis
- You should be available to attend the workshops in October
- You must be willing and open to collaboration with students from other study areas
