Kaunas is the second largest city in Lithuania, known for its ties with the industry and science sectors. The city is also known as “the city of young and talented people”: Every 7th inhabitant studies at a university or college. Kaunas University of Technology is a medium sized university, divided into 9 faculties, with about 10000 students, among which 10 % of them are international students.

The University of Stavanger have several Erasmus agreements with KTU within Engineering.

In addition, KTU and UiS are both members of the ECIU (The European Consortium for Innovative Universities).

Students who do not meet the language requirements will be offered online language courses prior the exchange period.

  • Computer science (Bachelor and Master): 2 places per semester
  • Mechanical Engineering: 4 places per semester
  • Civil Protection (Master - Samfunnssikerhet): 3 places per semester

Informasjon om skolepenger

Student doing exchange within Erasmus+ are exempted from tuition fees.

Stipendmuligheter

Erasmus + in combination with loan and grant from Lånekassen.

Academic Calender

If the exchange semester ends later than the following semester starts at UiS, the institute / faculty (in collaboration with the partner institution) might facilitate so that you are not delayed in your studies.

There are various possibilities for facilitation: You may take courses that do not require you to be present during the examination period, you might be exempted from compulsory teaching at UiS or you might be given an extended deadline for submission of bachelor's and master's theses. Contact your study coordinator at the department for more information.

Studiepoeng i utlandet

30 ECTS = 30 studiepoeng.

Bolig

The University offers accomodation in dormitories for all of the incoming exchange students. Information about application procedures is sent by email from KTU International Office and the Dormitory Group.

Visum

Norwegian students do not need to apply for visa when travelling to Europe. Students who do not hold Norwegian citizenship must check themselves if they need to apply for Visa.
