Information about the university

Lodz is the third largest city in Poland and one of the most multicultural and industrial centres in Europe. TUL is one of the largest technical universities in Poland with about 18000 students. The University is composed of nine faculties and the International Faculty of Engineering is an interfaculty unit which enables interdisciplinary studies. The IFE welcomes nearly 1400 students per year, 25 % of whom are international.

UiS has an Erasmus+ agreement within the subjec area computer science.

Language requirements

English proficiency recommended at minimum B2 level (read upper-intermediate = 4 in English from “vgs for Norwegian students). Please refer to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages for a description of proficiency levels.

Students who do not meet the language requirements will be offered online language courses prior the exchange period.

Tuition fee

Student doing exchange within Erasmus+ are exempted from tuition fees.

Scholarship

Erasmus+ grant in combination with loan and grant for eligible students through Lånekassen.

Academic year

Autum semester: October – End of February

Spring semester: March – Early July

If the exchange semester ends later than the following semester starts at UiS, the institute / faculty (in collaboration with the partner institution) will arrange so that you are not delayed in your studies.

There are various possibilities for facilitation: You might take courses that do not require you to be present during the examination period, you might be exempted from compulsory teaching at UiS or you might be given an extended deadline for submission of bachelor's and master's theses. Contact your study coordinator at the department for more information.

Credits abroad

Accommodation

Students can apply for a room in one of the university dormatories around campus. Students choose wether they are interested in the accomodation when they apply as exchange student to Lodz.

Visa

Norwegian students do not need to apply for visa when travelling to Europe. Students who do not hold Norwegian citizenship must check themselves if they need to apply for visa.
