University of Basilicata, Potenza

The University of Basilicata (Università degli Studi della Basilicata), colloquially known as Unibas, is an Italian public research university located in Potenza and Matera, Italy. It was founded in 1982 and is organized in six faculties (two schools and four departments). It also has one school of specialization and five doctoral schools. Information about the university

The regional capital is the city of Potenza. The University of Basilicata has a total of 7300 students and is located both in Potenza and Matera. In Potenza, the University consists of two campuses: the Campus of "Francioso" and the Campus of "Macchia Romana". In Matera, the University sites are in Via San Rocco, Via A.M. di Francia and Via Lazazzera.

University of Stavanger has an Erasmus+agreement with the Universita Degli Studi Della Basilicata within the field of Earth Sciences/Geology.

Language requirements

English and/or Italian proficiency recommended at minimum B2 level (read upper-intermediate = 4 in English or Italian from "vgs" for Norwegian students).

Students who do not meet the language requirements will be offered online language courses prior the exchange period.

Total number of exchange places

2 per semester for Master students in Petroleum Geology.

Tuition fee

Student doing exchange within Erasmus+ are exempted from tuition fees.

Scholarship

Erasmus+-grant in combination loan and grant from Lånekassen for eligible students.

Autumn Semester: October – Mid-January / End of January

Spring Semester: March - Mid June/End of June

If the exchange semester ends later than the following semester starts at UiS, the institute / faculty (in collaboration with the partner institution) can assist you so you are not delayed in your studies.

There are various possibilities for facilitation: You might take courses that do not require you to be present during the examination period, you might be exempted from compulsory teaching at UiS or you might get an extended deadline for submission of bachelor's and master's theses. Contact your study coordinator at the department for more information.

Visa

Norwegian students do not need to apply for visa when travelling to Europe. Students who do not hold Norwegian citizenship must check themselves if they need to apply for Visa.
