18 students from University of Stavanger attended Summer school in Moscow

During the period July 30 until August 3, 18 students from the Department of Mechanical and Structural Engineering and Material Science attended the Summer School at Gubkin University, Moscow.

More than 80 international students from 18 different countries and 19 universities attended the event in total. 

The Summer School is as part of the UTFORSK program, financed by SIU, between University of Stavanger and Gubkin University. Professor Dimitrios Pavlou is the project leader at UiS. 

Faculty staff, professors, and the Head of the Dept. of Mecanical and Structural Engineering and Material Science from UiS participated with lectures within a wide field of subjects. The program included three subject areas – “Technology for efficient and safe development of the Arctic”, “Arctic logistics”, and “Modern technology for well construction”.  

In addition to lectures, students and professors were invited for a cultural program with sightseeing, a river cruise and museums. “What a great event this has been,” one student said.

“Gubkin University did a great job making the summer school a big success. A special thanks to Professor Anatoly Zolutukin, Vlada Streletskaya  and Lesana Kurbonshoeva  in addittion to all the  volunteer students who organized  the Summer School activities,” says professor Pavlou.
