Learning cultures in preschools

This book presents new research-based knowledge concerning learning in preschools from a multidisciplinary perspective. The contributions focus on aspects within the fields of social science, natural science, aesthetics and ethics.

Early childhood education and care (ECEC) institutions have undergone major changes in recent years and are now important social institutions for all children. Here, children take their first steps in what is known as the life-long learning process. This presents many exciting opportunities for the early childhood education sector and strengthens the need to develop the research field of early childhood studies, to which this book contributes. A further intention of the authors behind the book is to strengthen research-based teaching and stimulate reflection and debate.

The authors of Læringskulturer i barnehagen (Learning cultures in preschools) present new, research-based knowledge concerning learning in ECEC institutions from a multidisciplinary perspective. The contributions focus on aspects within the fields of social science, natural science, aesthetics and ethics.

The book has been written by and for researchers within the field of early childhood studies. It is also aimed at others who are engaged in ECEC, such as teacher trainers, students and staff within the early childhood and social care sector.
