Kristin Kavli Adriansen

Kristin Kavli Adriansen is Nurse Educator and Associate Professor, Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Stavanger. She holds a PhD in the interdisciplinary field of history and social medicine from The University of Bergen. Adriansen’s research has a feminist and cultural historic angle, focusing on historic, social and cultural conditions that contributed to establish, shape and change nursing as a female vocation. This research may well enlighten the understanding of social powers and change mechanisms which have influenced women’s’ lives and work conditions, possibilities and resources in the past, but also provides concepts and enhances critical analysis of current issues in the field. Adriansen works closely with nurse historians both nationally and internationally, and contributes to enlighten the focus on nursing traditions and history in Europe.
