Well integrity and permanent Plug and Abandonment (P&A) have been focus of regulators and operating companies for quite some time.  In order to achieve and maintain the well integrity, technical, organizational and operational solutions should be applied.

Portland cement is the prime material used for zonal isolation and permanent P&A.  Although it has its own advantages, there are some limitations which require supplementary materials for specific applications.

SafeRock is an artificial rock made of natural rocks and inorganic industrial wastes that can be pumped downhole and placed at the right depth.  Then, it will harden and make strength upon time.

It is a safe technology and artificial rock.  Therefore, we call it SafeRock!

TOTAL and AkerBP are financially supporting the SafeRock technology development in a Joint Industry Project (JIP) to increase the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of SafeRock by upscaling the tests and filling out the research gaps.
