Established in February 2013, CIPSI's aim is to strenghten and coordinate applied ICT research at University of Stavanger and IRIS, in cooperation with industry partners such as Lyse and IBM.
This is a longterm effort across disciplines which are regarded as critical for the development of the Stavanger region. It is also an area of intense research activity, nationally and internationally.
The centre endeavours to intitialise research in close contact with industry and the public sector. It seeks cooperation with peers in other academic institutions and research institutes, both in Norway and abroad.
CIPSI wants to educate researchers who can contribute to pioneering new technological enterprises in the region and help foster innovative ideas in existing ones.
As of today, the centre has defined three central areas of activity:
- welfare technology and e-health
- integrated operations
As such, the centre depends on the ability to handle large amounts of data (Big Data).
