The subject shall give an understanding of interfacial chemistry concepts: different surfaces and interfaces and related phenomena such as surface tension, adsorption, monolayers, and films, liquid interface and membranes, self assembly.

Learning outcome

After finishing the course the students shall have: - Knowledge of interfacial phenomena in water - Knowledge of methods for measuring used in interfacial science. - Better understanding of particle behaviour in water. - understanding of principles of adsorption, aggregation and film formation. - principles of interfacial thermodynamics. After finishing the course one should have enough competency to go further with studies that needs knowledge of interfacial chemistry.

Contents

The subject shall give an understanding of interfacial chemistry concepts: different surfaces and interfaces and related phenomena such as surface tension, adsorption, monolayers, and films, liquid interface and membranes, self assembly, as well as measuring methods for phenomenon on surfaces and interfaces. And an introduction to biological interfaces.
