KÅKÅ|nomics festival starts with a seminar by UiS Business School. This years seminar is about the war in Ukraine, and how it has dramatically changed the outlook for the world economy.

In a war economy the public obligation is to do what is necessary: to support the military effort to be able to protect and defend the territory under attract – leaving their everyday economy behind. 

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and the sweeping sanctions the US and Europe have imposed on Russia in response, have triggered economic disruptions at four levels: direct, blowback, spillover, and systemic. But what are the long-term consequences of this disruptions war economy? How does it effect trade and do sanctions work as sticks for the development of the war?

The chair of the meeting is Ola Kvaløy, dean and professor of economics, and Silje Haus-Reve, Associated Professor of Innovation and Regional Studies at University of Stavanger Business School, both at the Business School at the University of Stavanger.
