Conjugated Basins, Tectonics and Hydrocarbons (CBTH)

The project seeks to create a GIS-based digital and atlas synthesis of available seismic and well data to define the regional hydrocarbon potential of a vast region affected by the Mesozoic breakup of Pangea. PIs: Paul Mann (UH) and Alejandro Escalona (UiS). Link: http://cbth.uh.edu/

Lower Cretaceous clastic wedges an under-explored play in the Arctic (LoCrA)

The main goal is to improve the basin configuration and fill of the Lower Cretaceous basins in the high Arctic as input to prediction of coarse grained siliciclastic wedges as plays on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. PIs: Snorre Olaussen (UNIS) and Alejandro Escalona (UiS). Link: http://locra.ux.uis.no/

Jurassic-Lower Cretaceous basinal studies of the Arctic. (JuLoCrA)

The main research focus is the Lower Cretaceous to the Middle-Upper Jurassic succession of the Barents Sea with efforts focus on improving the sequence stratigraphic and structural framework, paleogeography and the petroleum systems. PIs: Snorre Olaussen (UNIS) and Alejandro Escalona (UiS). Link: https://wp.ux.uis.no/julocra/

Hydrocarbon Potential of Paleozoic basins in the Central Graben, Norwegian sector; Frontier exploration in a mature basin (PaBas)

The main goal of this project is to improve the understanding of the Paleozoic petroleum system in the southern North Sea Paleozoic sub-basins by studying the tectonicstratigraphic evolution from seismic and well data and evaluate the potential of possible Paleozoic source rocks. PIs: Sverre Ohm (UiS) and Alejandro Escalona (UiS). Link: https://wp.ux.uis.no/pabas/

Regional geology of western Gondwana

Research is carried out on Paleozoic and Neoproterozoic rocks of the Central Andes and in southern Africa to decipher the geological evolution in western Gondwana.
