Vidar Schanche presents his final artistic result of his PhD work "The E(c)lect(r)ic Guitar in The Mechanical Forest".

In his artistic research project, Schanche has worked with finding new ways to improvise with the electric guitar by working with compositional techniques and concepts from Western Art Music. Schanche has particularly gone into depth on the use of scenic elements and the meeting between people and technology.
In The Mechanical Forest, the idea of how to create a concert combining scenic elements, a narrative, composed material, improvisation and technology is explored.
Can we really trust that technology is the solution to the climate and environmental crisis we are in now? What will be the result if the technology is to make the necessary decisions? In Mechanical Forest 3.0, technology has grown into an intelligence controlled by The Meta Corporation. Are we willing to do what it tells us to do?
