Tools4Teams will bring together expertise from social and technical sciences, human-centred design, education, and clinical specialties alongside non-academic partners (tools4teams).

The primary goal of the Tools4Teams project is to train 12 highly skilled Doctoral Candidates with in-depth knowledge and cross-disciplinary expertise in methods for research on teamwork and health services, design and system thinking, and ethics, complemented with transferable and networking skills, an entrepreneurial mind-set and experience of industrial application. Two of the 12 Doctoral Candidates are employed at SHARE, UiS, and started in their positions in September 2023.

The Doctoral Candidates

Asma Sabri has experience as a nurse anesthetist in both public and private hospitals and holds a master’s degree in advanced healthcare from the Health Sciences Institute at Hassan University, Morocco. PhD project: Person-centered practice in the stroke patient trajectory. Main supervisor: Professor Karina Aase.

Jicke Höök is a registered nurse with a background as university lecturer at the Institute of Health and Care Sciences, University of Gothenburg, Sweden. He holds a master's degree in healthcare science from the University of Borås. PhD project: Multi-Team Systems in the Stroke Patient Trajectory. Main supervisor: Professor Karina Aase.

During spring 2024 Asma and Jicke will complete a 3-month secondment at the Department of Public and Occupational Health, Amsterdam University Medical Center, the Netherlands.

Recent activities

The Tools4Teams first Winter School took place 28-30 November 2023 in Olten, Switzerland. The Doctoral Candidates participated in a variety of courses and workshops focusing on teamwork aspects such as non-technical skills, shared mental models, and resilience. Additionally, they delved into topics like theoretical frameworks for resilience, qualitative and quantitative research methods, simulation-based training, and effective presentation and writing skills. The candidates presented their research posters in front of fellow students and principal investigators fostering discussion and receiving helpful feedback.
