Kort om meg

Atle Skaftun is a professor in literacy studies at the Norwegian Centre for Reading Education and Reading Research at University of Stavanger. He received his PhD in Scandinavian Studies from the University of Tromsø in 2002, with a dissertation on dialogic realism in Knut Hamsuns novels. His shift from the field of literature towards that of literacy and literature education can be followed through several books and articles addressing different aspects of literacy and text work situated in the social practice of the L1 subject and school as such.

Baktin’s dialogism is an important framework in Skaftun’s research, and the idea of dialogic space is a key guideline in his studies based on classroom observations as well as in  collaborative work on practice development. Currently (2022-26) he co-leads a NFR-funded project targeting student participation in four disciplinary literacy practices (Norwegian, science, mathematiocs and social studies, cf. https://www-uis-no.ezproxy.uis.no/nb/forskning/partners-in-practice ).
