I do empirical research on the effects of shared reading on reading motivation and well-being. My current work focuses on shared reading as a method for increasing reading interest among fifth-grade students. Previously, I have worked with creative writing workshops for people living with serious chronic illnesses, and in my doctoral degree I investigated the psychosocial potential of shared reading for cancer patients. My research interests centre on how literature and reading experiences affect individuals, both in the short and long term, and the personal significance of these experiences. I have expertise in arts and health/medical humanities, as well as media psychology and empirical studies of literature.
