Practical training in Geosciences and Energy Resources (GEO360)
In this course, learning takes place in a professional environment outside the university, for example in a petroleum, mining, construction, or environmental institution or as part of a larger project. The aim of the course is to give students practical experience, and the opportunity to gain experience with academic issues during the internship period.

Content
NB! This is an elective course and may be cancelled if fewer than 10 students are enrolled by August 20th for the autumn semester/January 20th for the spring semester.
The student must find a suitable workplace. In collaboration with the student, the workplace, and the lecturer, a contract and a work plan will be established for how the internship will take place. The assessment is made on the basis of a report from the student and a presentation. The report shall contain a discussion of specified issues related to the practice, as well as documentation of work performed and signed timesheets.
The internship course is normally completed in the autumn semester.

The student must submit a critically reflective report (incl. signed timesheet) on their practical training. This report is presented to students and teachers at an agreed time and place.The course has a continuous assessment. All parts must be passed to obtain a final grade in the course.NOTE: According to Regulations relating to studies and examinations at the University of Stavanger section 3-10 point 2, a student has 2 attempts in this course, with the opportunity to apply for a 3rd attempt.This is the last year GEO360 is offered and therefore students who fail have no opportunity to take the subject again.
