Learning outcome
The course is to give students an introduction to environmental loads. Upon completing the course, the students shall:
  • be familiar with snow and ice loads effects on structures as well as the load design values
  • be familiar with effects of earthquake on structures, and be able to compute structural response to earthquake by using the design Spectrum as well as carry out simple response calculations in time-domain
  • be familiar with the mean and time-varying wind forces on structures, and be able to compute the static and dynamic wind-induced response
  • be familiar with the linear wave theory and wave and current loads on structures
  • be familiar with the design loads and design principles
Content
Snow and ice loads. Earthquake loads. Wind and wave statistics. Mean and fluctuating wind forces. Linear wave theory. Wave forces. Design loads and design principles.

6 out of 7 of the tutorial work has to be approved in order to allow one to take the exam. 

Mandatory work (such as hand in assignments, lab- assignments, projects, etc) must be approved by the lecturer within a given period ahead of examination date.
