The course is to give students an introduction to environmental loads. Upon completing the course, the students shall:
be familiar with snow and ice loads effects on structures as well as the load design values
be familiar with effects of earthquake on structures, and be able to compute structural response to earthquake by using the design Spectrum as well as carry out simple response calculations in time-domain
be familiar with the mean and time-varying wind forces on structures, and be able to compute the static and dynamic wind-induced response
be familiar with the linear wave theory and wave and current loads on structures
be familiar with the design loads and design principles
