English 2; English Teaching Methodology 2 (5.-10.) (MGL2034)
The competencies and roles of a language teacher are continuously expanding and it is expected that teachers can be researchers in their own classroom. In order to prepare students for these new roles, the course English teaching methodology 2 has a twofold aim. Firstly, the course builds on English 1 courses and gives students the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of English language teaching methods and the principles behind them. Students will be given the opportunity to evaluate many different age-appropriate approaches to provide them with an inclusive and creative learning environment. Then, on that foundation the course helps students critically read research literature, national regulations, curricula and other sources so that they can formulate their own research questions relevant for the English language classroom, conduct a small-scale research and reflect on the experience.
