Emilie had a steep learning curve both academically and linguistically during her Erasmus+ Traineeship in England and plans to work abroad after completing her paramedicine degree back home at the University of Stavanger.
By taking a semester at the University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS), you will encounter an exciting and international academic environment in Arctic research. The teaching at UNIS is field-based, and nature is used as a laboratory and an arena for learning, observation, collection and analysis of data.
At the Faculty of Performing Arts, the academic year is divided into mainly three different categories: Regular teaching weeks, project weeks, and exam weeks. Some weeks several sections have project week, other weeks it can be a teaching week in one section, while others have project week.

The Faculty in charge of the course determines which support materials are permitted during exams. Support materials may include written and printed materials, calculators, drawing equipment and other auxiliary equipment.
The academic year calendar changes every academic year. The academic year consists of teaching and project weeks. Information about the academic year 2024/2025 is published on subject-specific pages on Canvas. There may be changes to the content of the project weeks, but the structure of the weeks will remain unchanged.

As an exchange student, you can apply for additional support and grants
Your exchange must be academically relevant to be included in your degree from the University of Stavanger. You must apply for pre-approval of planned courses or traineeships before you travel, and for final approval upon your return.
As a UiS student, you have the opportunity to take part of your education abroad, without being delayed in your studies. This is your chance to experience life as a student in a whole new country!
If you choose Europe for your exchange, you become part of the large Erasmus family of students who have been on exchange for 30 years.
