Studies at the University of Stavanger

The University of Stavanger (UiS) has been welcoming students from all over the world since the university was established in 2005. International students form an integral part of the community on campus, and currently just over 10% of our students have international background.

The number of international study programmes taught in English at the University of Stavanger is constantly growing. The UiS offers full-time master's programmes as well as student exchange programmes, where courses are offered in various subject areas at both bachelor's and master's level. While degree programmes are open for applicants from all over the world, the exchange programmes are limited to students whose home institution has an exchange agreement with the UiS.

The UiS also offers a 1-year preparatory language programme that allows students to qualify for study programmes taught in Norwegian.

The University of Stavanger has about 10 100 students and 1400 employees. The UiS is also privileged to have a number of research institutions in the university’s immediate vicinity. A close cooperation with these academic and research partners is mutually beneficial.
