Maren Resell Sørheim / RØT (Blå:Trå)

Maren Resell Sørheim is a third year bachelor student who studies jazz vocal at Faculty of Performing Arts.

Inspired by her personal roots she has used the spring of 2023 to put together a musical palette consisting of her own texts, frameworks from jazz and improvisation, and elements from Norwegian folk music - specifically vocal material from her home village of Oppdal in Trøndelag. The music has a strong focus on uniting soundscapes and textual universes and is played alternately between the free and the fixed. The result is an exciting treatment of tonality and sounds with a playful approach.
