The University of Stavanger offers a broad range of single courses for exchange students.

Choosing courses

You may choose courses across faculties if not otherwise written. To be able to sign up for a course, you need to fulfil the prerequisites for each course. The timetable for the autumn semester will be available mid-June and mid-December for the spring semester. Please note that there is a higher chance of collisions in time schedules and exams if you choose courses from different Faculties. A full course load equal to 30 ECTS. Bachelor level students are not able to take masters level courses.

Faculty of Arts and Education

The Faculty of Arts and Education offers inbound exchange students courses in educational sciences and the humanities.

Spring 2022

This program is partly a set package. EIS110 and EIS120 is obligatory. We do recommend that you do not combine this program with other courses due to overlap in time schedule and the exam.

*It is only possible to take either EIS150 or EIS155.

Faculty of Social Sciences

The Faculty of Social Sciences gives exchange students from partner institutions the opportunity to take subjects in the field of social sciences.

The modules listed below are taught in English and are open to English speaking students from partner universities. Students who speak a Scandinavian language, may also apply to the courses in the bachelor programmes in Hotel and Tourism Management that are in Norwegian.

For English and Scandinavian speaking students we offer field education placement for both social work, social pedagogy and child welfare students. Depending on the need of the sending institution's program we can offer field placement comprising of 20 or 30 ECTS, in both semesters.

This Master programme has been developed by the University of Stavanger (Norway), Umeå University (Sweden) and Aalborg University (Denmark).

The Department of Social Studies gives exchange students from partner institutions the opportunity to sign up for some of the courses that are part of the Nordic Master in Social Work and Welfare. Students learn about Nordic Welfare Models, welfare transition, innovation and user participation in an international classroom and develop new perspectives and understandings of the field of social work in a global perspective.
